Free gift ~ Beltaine chapter of ‘Herbs Around the Year’
Here is a sample chapter of this beautiful Ebook for you to enjoy.
Do you feel a deep longing within you for something ancient and wild that you can’t quite pin down? Do you have a sense that something really vital is missing from modern life that seems lost but retrievable if only you could remember what it was?
It may well be that reconnection to Nature is that elusive thing you need to feel grounded, in harmony and truly whole again. The human race desperately needs to heal, and with it our planet. We are of the Earth, and when Mother Nature suffers, so do we. When we heal, the Earth heals. And when we do something to help heal our planet, it is healing for us too.
It is my belief that the more aligned with Nature we become, the more likely we are to take care of our world and the health of everyone in it.
I try to inspire and motivate people to get outside in their local area to see what is growing, and get to know and use the herbs they find on their walks. When you spend time outdoors observing the changing cycles of life, growth, death and rebirth, you become immersed in Nature, just like our ancestors who viewed the land as sacred.
This is one reason I choose to follow the ancient Celtic Wheel of the Year. It is divided into 8 festivals days where the beginning and peak of each season is marked and honoured.
So, I have written this Ebook called Herbs Around the Year, full of lovely original photos, and an overview of 36 plants that are available around each of the Celtic festival days. The aim is to help you gain a deeper connection to the land and your local wildlife through learning about seasonal herbs and the cycles of Nature.
This sample chapter begins with the Celtic festival of Beltaine, on 1st May. It celebrates the marriage of the Earth Goddess and the God of the Greenwood, when all the countryside is festooned with the bridal white of Hawthorn blossom and Cow Parsley. Everywhere is bursting with life from lush green leaves, to tadpoles and baby birds.
There follows profiles on four plants found around this time. Each one contains information on:
Wildlife and habitat
Nutrition
Medicinal benefits
Skincare and/or other practical uses
